Why do I Tweet on Twitter?

I’ve enjoyed meeting artists from all over the world and seeing their art. One can catch the latest news, opinions, marketing tips, inspirational quotes, a good laugh and see interesting activities. I find the experience fascinating and it energizes me. I like to alert others about my latest blog post too. It’s a great way to ‘reach out to the world’.

I am inspired when debbiespaintbox says that she is going into the studio to work on the painting of the bear. Her energy and enthusiasm is contagious.

lorimcneeartist gives great advice and tips on twitter, marketing your art and has great links to other interesting sites. She is a very accomplished artist as well.

AlfredCurrier ‘s art is amazing. I love his paintings. He uses complementary colors to energize the color so his paintings really come alive. His brushstrokes are juicy and exquisite.

I’ve seen a lot of other fine painters on Twitter too. I was glad to find so many plein air painters busy exploring the challenges and rewards of painting on location. I recommend that you check out these twitter sites too:  (and there are many, many more fine painters that you will just have to find for yourself)

Montstream Studio has a good facebook site and her twitter site is kmmstudio. She keeps you up to date with her plein air work in Vermont. It’s fun to be a part of her art process. She cleaned up her studio and showed before and after pictures which inspired me to start cleaning mine.

I really like connecting with my niece mystorywriter and seeing her tweets and her blog. I’ve learned a lot from following her.

Learn about Retweets, twibes, hashtags, FF… I learn new terms every day. I keep a notebook with ones that I don’t understand so I can research it later when I have more time. I keep a notebook close, my tweet notebook, to catch ideas for blogs or tweets. I don’t want to forget a good idea. And you never know when a good idea will come to you.

Of course, twitter can eat up your time too. You have to be careful that it doesn’t take too much of your time and take you away from the studio or whatever creative endeavor you want to do. BUT there is advice on twitter on how to keep a handle on that too. I have found it works well if I allocate specific time in advance, strategize how much time to allow and stick to it. It should enhance your art, not steal from it.

There is a lot to learn about twitter. I am still very new at this and have much to learn. It is fascinating and I encourage you to try it out. Please feel free to send me comments and correct me if I’ve inserted errors into this post or if you have suggestions for me. I would love to hear them!

One thing I’ve noticed is I start thinking in bites of info that are less than 140 characters!

Hope to see your tweets soon.
